Well, the new realestate.co.nz website is live..it seems to be getting mixed reviews but generally positive…you can’t please everyone! Any advance in technology is a good thing in my opinion.
One thing I am happy to see is that they have dropped their support for Internet explorer 6. From my perspective this is great as we sometimes have problems with IE6 when users try to access our site via their workplace computers.
Workplaces often have antiquated software and firewalls in place which can cause problems with some parts of our site like registering and listing an apartment as well as viewing the flash floor-plans as it seems many workplaces don’t allow flash or quicktime??
Although IE6 users only make up 6.9% of our site traffic it is a headache we can all do without. Google has withdrawn support which is a very important step, it is a gutsy step to take, but one which I hope more companies will take.
So long as websites tell the users that their browser is not supported and redirect them to an upgrade page, I can see no harm in it. Good call and thanks!
I have not had a chance to take a good look at the realestate site yet but will give my 2 cents soon.
Three new apartment buildings have just been added to highprofiles, C-Vu 36 Day St, The Landings 8-10 Ronayne St, and Hampton Court 182 Federal St. This brings the total number of apartment profiles on our site to 16,278
Today we have streamlined our listing process to make things quicker and easier to place, edit, and remove listings.
No big changes in functionality but usability wise it is a big improvement. Soon to be introduced is a building search field so you can search by building name or address. This is to be added both to the listing process and the homepage. We will also add a property ID search for agents.
